returning home

I am sorry I have been so absent this past week.  I wasn't always able to find an internet connection, or the time to sit and post.  I will try and be back up and running in the next day or so~

As for the reunion, some things change over 20 years.  And some things do not...  :)

on holidays~

#3.

He looks unhappy.

But oh no!  He is simply putting on his "I am far too cool for this" persona.  We had a great time traveling here, especially our dinner, which ended with my all time favorite - FRENCH SILK PIE at Bakers Square in my home town~  I'm pretty sure it is now his favorite too.

On another note, my dad had mentioned that we had an appointment this morning at 8:30 am. I will admit, I was nervous.  I was worried that it was something bad, health related, scary.  So imagine my surprise when we arrived for my MASSAGE!  Honestly, best. dad. ever.

I'm going home~

It is funny because, while I feel like the only place in the world for me is inside these four wonderful walls, Minnesota still feels like home, or at least the home of who I am.  I don't get back nearly enough, and when I do, it feels like it is such a whirlwind of activity and attempting to get all of the visits in that I can.

~ah, the 80s...

This year I am heading back for me 20 year high school reunion.  #2 and I leave for the airport first thing in the morning.  I am really looking forward to traveling with him, as we have never done so - just the two of us - before.  We are spending our first three days with my dad, in the small town he lives in, just off the Mississippi River on the Minnesota side.  I will then be leaving him there with my dad, and driving south-west, to visit friends who are incredibly dear to me - friends that I have known since elementary school.  After two days with them, I will be heading north, to Minneapolis, where I will be staying for two nights with one of my very dearest friends (we have known each other since first grade!) and going to the reunion with her.

Along the way, I am hoping to meander through back roads, past farms and pastures, in search of rustic barns, weather beaten fences, lazy river beds.  I will of course be traveling with Francis, and you know that she and I will be stopping as many times as necessary, shooting as much as possible!

I am also going to what promises to be one HUGE vintage sale.  The fabulous Jill of Forever Cottage will hopefully be meeting me in Oronoco, Minnesota and I will definitely take all sorts of photos there!

I will be bringing my laptop along, but am not sure if I will be posting.  Have a fabulous, wonderful week and I look forward to sharing all of my photos and stories when I return!

Hot Blogust Night

This Saturday evening, I am excited to be going to this event:

You can find more details here, just scroll down a bit, until you see Timi's badge!

I too have been asked to make a badge.  To be creative.  Use a glue gun.  Let's just say yesterday was a bit ugly when it comes to graceful crafting...  I now know I am certainly NOT a crafter...

However, for better or worse, here she is~

Hope to see you there!  It should be a fabulous time~

poppy love

I have been having a bit of a love affair with poppies lately - especially poppy seed pods.  Aren't they absolutely marvelous?

love

Love isn't an act.  it's a whole life.
It's staying with her now because
she needs you: it's knowing you
and she will still care about each other when
sex and daydreams.  fights and futures-
when all that's on the shelf and done with.
Love-why.  I'll tell you what love is:
it's you at seventy-five and her at seventy-one.
each of you listening for the other's
step in the next room. each afraid that a
sudden silence.  a sudden cry
could mean a lifetime's talk is over.
