following your heart - but to Nepal???

Lately, I have been drawn to India. You may remember that one of my very dearest friends has done a lot of traveling through India and Nepal and has taken some of my favorite photos. It is funny that I had titled that post "when I grow up" and I had wanted to title this one the same thing... One of my very favorite posts that I have written was about women helping women, found here. Many of you know how much the idea that women can do ANYTHING if they set their minds to it is a huge part of who I am.

Thus, you can probably image how touched, and amazed, and impressed I was when I discovered Maggie Doyne this morning. Honestly, the girl is INCREDIBLE. I could blather on and on about what she had done, but really - it is so much better when it comes from her~

I feel that my life is an endless search for inspiration. When I see this, I wish with all of my heart that whatever Maggie's parents did to create the drive, and ambition, and belief that she could do anything had been bestowed upon me by my parents. This is exactly the confidence that I want to instill in my boys - so that they too can follow their hearts and find passion in doing something magnificent! If this young girl can come out of high school, go out into the world, and create something this incredible, why can't we all?

Have a wonderful Sunday mes amies - I am off for a run in the rain and then I have an afternoon all to myself! (handsome husband has taken the littles away and all the bigs want is to see a movie later~ Yippy!!!

making my own happiness

So, the weather here has been anything but lovely lately - rain. rain. and more rain.
It is gray and wet and most often cold. So be it.

So, today I shall stop fighting the weather and begin finding positive things about it. Okay, maybe not positive things about the awful winter weather in June, but at least things that make me happy or inspired.

And it is Friday - I simply can not complain about Friday. So, here goes~

~ I love how much I can get done inside when it is not nice enough to be outside gardening. There is baking, and working on my website, and doing proper correspondence with actual stationary and handwritten letters.

~ I love being able to sit with #4, my little sidekick, and really participate in what he is doing (which, as of late, seems to be a LOT of lego xbox games!). I love making a leisurely lunch for the two of us, sitting with him at the table talking about whatever a four year old wants to talk about, and just enjoying his company.

~ I love catching up on movies that I have had in my "instant queue" and not feeling guilty that I should be doing something else because, quite honestly, everything else is DONE! There have been so many of these wet, cold, dark days and I have pretty much caught up on 90% of what I have ever had on my "to do" list...

I also love being inspired by photography - seeing as I am still on my never-ending search to find "me" though my own photography. All of the photos in this post were found here.

Speaking of photography, I have been working with my web designer and we are getting close to having my photography site complete. I am so excited to finally have it up and running. Now if only I could find my username and password for the account...

I hope you all have a marvelous weekend doing whatever you have planned. I wish all of my friends who are at Farm Chicks a wonderful time visiting and shopping, eating and drinking! I do wish I was there with you~

Bon Weekend mes amies,
xx

501st post and the french collection is in the shop!

But first things first - this is my 501st post! How on earth that happened, I haven't a clue... I will be drawing the names for my give-away tomorrow night and announcing the winners on Wednesday. I will then be having another give-away later this week - one that I am REALLY excited about!

So, on to other news~

I have finally listed some of my Paris prints in the shop! Of course, there are a number of other prints from before *the dream trip*, and I hope to add more in the coming weeks as well.

bises,

styling

You can't be everything, right? I mean, you can't be GOOD at everything - it is simply not possible. And I am okay with that. sort of... But in order for me to improve at what I want to be good at, I have come to one conclusion.

I am not a stylist. not. at. all.

however

I need a stylist. I need someone who has an eye for composition - a much better eye than I have. Someone who wants to put fabulous settings together and then let me go to work with light and angles and Ruby.

A stylist. that is all I need.

I simply adore Atlanta Bartlett. I know, you are probably thinking "how many girl-crushes can this girl have???", right? Well, let me tell you, I have a LOT of them, and the list grows every once in a while.

Atlanta is my dream stylist. D-R-E-A-M Her eye is exactly what I see in my head but can't seem to organize in reality. she. has. it.

Love.

What I wouldn't give for one day of shooting with her styling the shoot. (okay, seriously, I wouldn't give my kids or anything - or my husband, or my home, but other than that, I am pretty open to offers...)

Couldn't you just melt into these photos?

Especially these - as we all know how close airstreams are to my heart~

And her outdoor dining settings not only inspire me photographically, but they make me want to create something this lovely here on the farm.
