all things pretty~

While reading this post this morning, I saw these fabulous earrings~

It came to mind that when I shop Anthropologie, I always look at clothes and the home goods, but never consider jewelry. I think that is because I don't really wear anything other than my four everyday pieces - diamond stud earrings, wedding rings, the first necklace that my husband bought me, and if I wear a bracelet, it is the one with my boys' names on it that my dear friend Lori bought me.

However, in 2010, that is going to change. You see, one of my "aspirations" for this coming year is to find my girly side more often. I want to wear more color, I want to wear pretty earrings, pink scarves, flowery hair clips. I want to find cute outfits, be inspired by women in years gone by, live with more grace, "do my hair" more often...

I know that this sounds like a silly, frivolous aspiration - especially when you see the rest of my list. However, I TRULY believe that we feel how we look, at least I do. If I feel pretty, and graceful, and girly, then I feel good about going out there and kicking some social issue ass. More on my other aspirations soon~

Fabulous post!! You are not alone in your aspirations. I realized months ago that I had stopped doing a lot of things that were once important to me regarding my appearance. Too many days in sweats, wearing my hair up instead if fixing it a bit, no jewelry or nail polish...so I decided to change and I did!! I got a lot of compliments from my husband and kids and I felt like my own person instead of someone's wife or mom!!

You rock! Let's see more of those aspirations!

Great stuff!
I am an accessory junkie... but--- I'm a stay at home mom... and many days I am not presentable to the outside world! I have vowed to change that!!!
Good luck and happy shopping!

WOW! Love this post. Love your ideas, love the eye candy. I have been thinking very much about some of these same issues. Thank you for inspiring me!

You my dear were in Fact born in France and didn't know it. You are the ideal French woman in fact! One does not go out in France looking like she cut the bread on her t-shirt! Very few women own a tracksuit (unless it is used for a jog around Longchamps) and I personally know women who have never owned a pair of running shoes either. To do one's best, one must look one's best. Hmmm - très joli Mimi!

I applaud you for your determination to wrap yourself up a bit more girly-like! So many women today dismiss the importance of establishing a decidedly feminine style. I believe we can be powerful and pretty at the same time! I know for myself (and many other women I have helped through the years)adding some sparkly earrings and cute heels to a basic jeans and sweater ensemble makes me feel pretty and special! and it really doesn't take all that much more time or effort...awareness is the key!

Go for it!

I'm not as blog person, but my mom is. She sent me your post, because I had said some of the very same things to her over Christmas. Feeling good and looking good...hmmm...I think I'll try it.

I'm with you. Life is too short to dress frumpy, and the more unique you look, the better I say. I was never a jewelry person either but now I have scads and it's all very funky. Give us a peek at your new look...

Hugs,

Shelley

These were all so pretty! And they would look great on you!

I myself need a little bit of this kind of inspiration to dress for success. I have always been a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, but now that I just turned 30, I want some style!

It's never too late to change!

I hear ya, gal...I always feel like I was born in the wrong time. I could easily wear a "swishy" skirt like Mrs. Cleaver and be perfectly happy.

My fashionista resolution is to actually "do" my hair more...good grief, my kids sometimes ask me how long it is! Pathetic :)

I've something special for you...should I save it for our soiree' or send it ?! :)

I love this post...for the first time last year I made a new years resolution or "aspiration" as you mentioned...and it was that exactly...I am definitely a BIG work in progress with it so it is mine all over again this year! LOVE IT!

Here, here! Looking good means I feel better about me and therefore the day. I had set a goal to find or make a few vintage looking dresses to wear this summer to feel more girly. No more pants in summer for me.
Enjoyed your post very much.
