I missed my era...

There is something about the style of the 40s and 50s. I truly think that I lived there in my past life~ How I would love to live in such a graceful, stylish era~

Bonjour! Love that you take a whole week for your birthday! I have snatched up whatever 40's inspired derivative I can find at Anthropologie or elsewhere. 3/4 sleeves, below the knee ruffle and button edged skirt, tweedy short jacket. Timeless, and evocative of those great old movies we all love. Happy Birthday, aren't sons great! Trish

That era was truly fabulous style wise....you can still dress that way...hit up the vintage shops. We have quite a few where I live that have clothes from those eras. I used to have quite the collection as before I had kids I was planning to open a vintage clothing store....Happy Sunday, Kimberly!

Oh I HEAR you!

What is it about the 40's and 50's? I just love the idea that women always looked so elegantly turned out no matter what they had planned for the day...*sighs*

If only...

It's hard to imagine living in an era where people wore suits and hats everywhere. That one lady is about to get on a plane in heels. On the one hand I think I would have loved it...on the other hand...I kind of love running to the grocery store in jeans and a t-shirt.

I can see you in the two red themed ones: either on a brilliant beach with a stylish hat - or blowing kisses from a fresh face graced with a splash of red lipstick! They were the roaring 40s and fabulous 50s ...yes! Very you ;-)

The fashions from that time are some of my favorites. I love the elegance. It's nice to see some of that coming back into style. You have a beautiful blog, by the way. :)

Your photos are so beautiful! I agree about living in that era. It must have been a wonderful time picking out an outfit to wear back then. Everyone was so chic and fashionable with their pencil skirts, high heels, gloves and hats. It was a very sexy, feminine era,not to mention respectful. Today very few people dress with such a passion and zest for style, class and decorum!! We can't go back but we sure can reminisce!!

every one of these images is perfect!! i used to think i missed my era as well. only in my mind it was the romance of the early 1900's. the victorian girls, fresh, lovely, full of secret passions and forbidden words. your birthday week, how wonderful! and a happy year ahead with your wonderful boys and the unfolding adventure of your photographic life!
