dreaming of sunshine (or of moving south...)

Sunshine.

I am getting a little desperate for it. We had a bit today, but, as is often the case here in the pacific northwest, it only lasted for a short while.

I am really looking forward to the warm weather, the sunny mornings, lunches outside, sun hats, sun glasses, bon fires, mowing the grass, picnics, days at the beach.

I want to get my tomato plants in their pots, the gardens to start to really grow, flower seeds to sprout, and the croquet game set up in the upper pasture.

I want to ride our bikes to the Saturday market more often, put sunblock on the boys, fill the water trough up and let them use it as a pool, need the umbrella over the sandbox to provide some shade, linger over dinners outside by candlelight with good wine and good friends.

I want to pull out our shorts, summer skirts, flip flops, swim trunks.

I want to entertain in the gardens, eat our own vegetables, make sun tea, throw open the windows, watch for butterflies.

Come on spring, we are waiting~

Actually, I headed south - I'm at the beach enjoying the sun. I hope I can take the sun back home with me.

I know how you feel!
Well, sort of...I've spent a good bit of time in the Pacific Northwest, and I know all too well how endless cloudy days can affect your moods and well-being. It certainly did mine!

Wishing you sunny days and clear skies! And no mosquitoes! ;-)

Hugs,
Anne

I am SO with you "Sister"! We keep getting these "teases" and then,,,more cold and rain!

I'm trying to work out coverage for moi at Joyworks so I can at LEAST head East to Farm Chicks in a couple of weeks! Ackk! Are you going to be there?

I'm kind of "flying by the seat of my pants" trying to put it all together somewhat 'last minute.'

If I DO get to head "East" I may just keep going,,,,,,,,ackk! My Moss is growing Moss here in Washington!

We had a running "bud" of yours in Joyworks this afternoon......She was a sweetie!

Think sunny thoughts!

Come on down to sunny Charleston, SC! We have been in the mid to upper 80's for the last few weeks. We hit the beach or the pool, but while you are enjoying a lovely warm/nice in the evenings in summer, we will be sweltering!! I still love it though!

Now you've got me wanting to plan a garden party again and I just traded my wonderful rental backyard for a new home that doesn't have a yard at all...woe is me...I think I should have thought harder about this... ;)

I must admit, I always wondered about people that live in the NW. I figured they must love the weather or something. Maybe with global warming, you'll get a little more sunshine. Your summer sounds heavenly.

Me too...been making suntea, but I can pretty much make it all year round living in Cali. It's been cloudy with chance of rain all day...strangely cold for us.

I, too, am anxious to see my shadow on a regular basis. Your images are wonderful and make me want summer even more!!

Hi - I am so with you (apart from today it is very sunny and warm - miracle). Everyone is talking about summer and I have been wondering when exactly it's going to arrive!? This might be it; however it might not. England has a way of giving it and then taking it away! L x

I am with you on every front!

It's gray and yucky here, which is putting a damper on the day.

Lovely photos. ;)

These photos are absolutely gorgeous! Love your shots of France too!

Spring came very late here as well. We had a dusting of snow a couple of weeks ago! So much for the "always sunny" south of France.
My flip flops are officially out and they're not going back into the closet until October!
I hope spring arrives soon for you too.

These are gorgeous! It has been a slow start to spring in NY too ... but we're starting to get hints. Hope it comes your way soon ...

Ugh, I know how you feel. We, too,
live in the Northwest. Ahh, so green, but oh so wet and gloomy of late. But, then I remember that it usually stays like this until the Portland Rose Festival. The Queen and her court, up on their float all bundled up against the elements. THEN, we will have summer!

Oh I hope you get your sunshine soon, dear one! We are bathing in it here at the moment as you know, but cooler weather on the way for next week so we are making the most of it!

Gorgeous pictures as ever! Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm longing for this too. Here in the South, we seemed to have gone straight from winter to summer. I'm going to miss those Northwest summers. They were the best!

Well the sun is shining on the east coast ~ but I am with you all the way. I cannot wait for summer although this Victoria Day week-end has been the proverbial cherry on the top of our vacation ~ they are calling for 30C here tomorrow. I see weeding and relaxing on the deck in my future!

Me too! Except we are heading into winter here (which is probably still very mild by comparison to yours, so I guess I can't complain too much!).

Btw, thanks so much for your sweet comment, you gorgeous being. It really made me smile :) x

You just described why I have and always will live in California - the weather. (I wouldn't mind a few short term moves somewhere else though.)

You live in a pretty fabulous area too!!

Loving your photos - they are gorgeous! :) xxoo

KIM! LOVE your pictures, they do INSPIRE so! My parents live in SW Washington and have been going through the same thing you are experiencing....but I know from past experience that the summers in Washington are FULL of SUNSHINE and fabulous, DRY 80 degree summer days! I used to bring my kids out and stay for a long, glorious MONTH each summer before they were both too involved in STUFF at home. This year my son is going out early with a friend {very exciting to fly alone when you are 11!} and then my daughter and I will join him ~ three weeks for him and two for us. Can't wait to roam the property, eat blackberries and soak up the SUN. It's coming!!!

Spring doesn't visit Chicago, but we did seem to have one this year. Right now it feels like summer full on outside though. But, the sunshine, the glorious sunshine can boost the mood like nothing else.

It's been quite a wait, hasn't it? It rained yesterday and is pouring today. I'm sick of it too and even my daughter told me she can't take any more rain. Everything sure is green and wonderful, isn't it?

Maybe tomorrow!

Warm blessings,
Spencer
