fine dining, or daily dining in france...

While I am due for another post from the magical france trip of 2010, I need to take a moment to insert a bit about the food I enjoyed while I was there. You see, while editing the photos from my second week where I stayed with my french bestie, I realized how absolutely utterly stunningly gorgeous (not to mention DELICIOUS) the food was. You see, french bestie is an incredible cook. marvelous, really. And of course, being me, I had to photograph every single thing we ate. I was lucky french husband was so patient and understanding of my constantly whipping out the camera at a moments notice... and waiting to eat. or drink his wine. or champagne. See - I really was fortunate~

So, I thought I would share a few photos of the meals that have now spoiled me when it comes to dining. And please believe me when I say that I miss this food every day and try to recreate part of the magic that was "eating chez frenchies"...

Most of our lunches were eaten outside in the sunshine in the french countryside. And please note - when I say "lunch" I am referring to a meal that most would consider a formal dining experience in most other places. We enjoyed wine with every meal (lord knows I could get used to that...) and the freshest ingredients in every meal. It truly was one of those times when you REALLY don't want it to ever end.

Cheese was served at nearly every meal and it was the most magnificent selection of cheeses I have ever enjoyed. I fell in love with M. Jeannot - their cheese man~

Okay, I'm hungry... Time to go peruse my favorite cookbooks in search of some inspiration for the coming week~
Enjoy your Sunday mes amies!
xx

I can see I'm going to have to look at our lunches through different eyes! Or have you over here to photograph it every day! Yes - I shall take the second option ;-) I swear a raw chicken never looked so good. And the wine has lost its flavour since you've left too. No one here can get enough of YOUR garlic chicken recipe though. You've blown French cuisine off the map ;-) xxx Bisous

oh my goodness these pictures are yummy looking...
they have brought back fond memories of my time in France...
enjoying a "plat"...when we could afford it and visiting the open air french market for cheese and bread for a picnic when we could not! Love this.

Ooh, I could just REACH through the computer screen and gobble up any of these goodies. That bread! That wine! The flowers and blue sky! {Certainly everything tastes better under a blue and SUNNY sky?!} Wonderful memories, all.... and I'm sure that you are having fun trying to recreate some of those recipes back at home. Happy day to you, Kim and thanks for the palate pleasing photos! xx P&H

I'm getting the ITCH to go back!

What else I loved in Europe? You could basically eat anything you wanted because you walked so much everyday you burned it all off!

I think my fav was just a fresh baguette with some cheese, fruit and WINE!!

Thanks for sharing!

Hugs,
Shell

Oh, I have a funny to add though...When I first arrived in Europe I stayed for 10 days with my cousin in Holland.....

Our first Dinner in their DARLING little village in Central Holland (Ex Halsteren) was at a CHINESE restraunt where the family all spoke DUTCH.....now THAT was internationl!

Funny though, even the Chinese food was vastly different. . .

Oh My Goodness....your photos are beautiful...and while I am sure the food is utterly gorgeous...I think your incredible ability to take beautiful pictures may have had something to do with how delicious ALL of this food looks. Would you please head to Puyallup and take photos of my food and 'make it pretty.' LOL
Hoping for dry weather SOON!!
