There is something about taking the road less traveled.
Driving through the heartland of this incredible country.
Amber fields of grain,
endless wildflowers,
fantastic old barns.
The cafes. The old gas stations. The antique stores.
There is something magical about being alone in your car. Turning up the radio. The summer sun. The meandering country roads...

Love each and every image! Beautiful:)
What a lovely post! I like to stop in the small cafes and at farmer's stands along the way.
oh,it sounds just heavenly! I love to do that. we always call it taking the sexy way home. I never take the interatate anymore. besides, you never know what you will find on the side of the road!
Your post today made me itchy to grab my purse and keys and hit the road! We have a small road trip planned for Sunday to eastern Washington. I will try to be a responsible citizen and keep my nose to the grindstone until then!

Amen!!! I love being alone in my car and if I had scenery like that, I would be double excited!

These are lovely photos...
We always take the back roads, and we have two day trips this weekend. Saturday we are going to the charming town of Hico, TX to spend my Birthday shopping (just what my hubby wanted to do, I'm sure), and Sunday we will be heading west to Wichita Falls for my gandmothers 100th b-day! Both days we will travel the roads less traveled and re-connect. I can't wait!

That is so gorgeous. I love all the photographs and now I want to take a roadtrip through your country.
I also adore pictures of paths and roads - have you read Kerouac?
...yes...and don't those back roads, high roads & low roads seem to lead us back...home...
Great images! I do love the barn ones myself...can't get enough of zee barns :) Looking forward to meeting you in person at BH on the 12th. Enjoy these very last day of summer.
Yes! These photos capture that feeling perfectly. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic now . . .
To the last line I could not agree more! To all those moments that give the heart rest and a big ole smile!
Happy day to you!
My roads are the back hills of Wine Country, not far from home. What a lovely post!
You're so right. I think it brings out the nostalgia in us. That little daydream evokes a magical time, when moments seemed more like minutes. And people didn't lock their doors. Solitude, open roads. It make us think. Be grateful. Dream little dreams.

I do love a good road trip. I can feel the breeze and hear the tunes as I look at these images.
Country charm at its finest Kim. I adore your images. From Savannah to Charleston we took the back roads & there were a few moments where I expcected Andy Griffith to pop around the corner.
The road less travelled is always the road fuilled with more memories.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. Lovely post!
