I have been having a bit of a love affair with poppies lately - especially poppy seed pods. Aren't they absolutely marvelous?

They remind me of little dancing Renaissance ladies with their bulbous hats..soo pretty!
I too like the poppy heads, but mostly when they are in the flower stage.

How sweet! I spent time with my poppies today. What colors do you have? When I moved up the mountains and saw the giant poppies in the nursery I was sooo exited...thinking of the lovely soft pink variety in the garden I was leaving behind... When they burst open in full-true-bright-orange..I was a bit shocked. My neighbor and friend Amy stopped by to say hello whilst my mom and I were working out in the garden today. Amy, with her bright beautiful red hair...went home with a bag full of poppy seeds to plant in her garden with her little boys.

I think I prefer poppies when they are in this stage than when they are in full bloom. Gorgeous photographs.
