I'm going home~

It is funny because, while I feel like the only place in the world for me is inside these four wonderful walls, Minnesota still feels like home, or at least the home of who I am.  I don't get back nearly enough, and when I do, it feels like it is such a whirlwind of activity and attempting to get all of the visits in that I can.

~ah, the 80s...

This year I am heading back for me 20 year high school reunion.  #2 and I leave for the airport first thing in the morning.  I am really looking forward to traveling with him, as we have never done so - just the two of us - before.  We are spending our first three days with my dad, in the small town he lives in, just off the Mississippi River on the Minnesota side.  I will then be leaving him there with my dad, and driving south-west, to visit friends who are incredibly dear to me - friends that I have known since elementary school.  After two days with them, I will be heading north, to Minneapolis, where I will be staying for two nights with one of my very dearest friends (we have known each other since first grade!) and going to the reunion with her.

Along the way, I am hoping to meander through back roads, past farms and pastures, in search of rustic barns, weather beaten fences, lazy river beds.  I will of course be traveling with Francis, and you know that she and I will be stopping as many times as necessary, shooting as much as possible!

I am also going to what promises to be one HUGE vintage sale.  The fabulous Jill of Forever Cottage will hopefully be meeting me in Oronoco, Minnesota and I will definitely take all sorts of photos there!

I will be bringing my laptop along, but am not sure if I will be posting.  Have a fabulous, wonderful week and I look forward to sharing all of my photos and stories when I return!

As a child of the 70s and teenager of the 80s I truly appreciated your photo!

Have a wonderful time on your return trip "home"! St. Louis is that way for me. While I have lived in Kansas City for over 18 years, and love the life that my husband and I have built for our 2 little ones, a part of me still considers STL "home".

BTW...my father-in-law is from the Iowa side of the Mississippi River, but my kiddos great-grandparents have long resided on the Minnesota side. They are currently in Prairie Du Chien. I just can't believe the beauty of that part of the Mississippi...so different from the Mississippi of StL or the deep south!

Have a wonderful trip and reunion!

I will be in Oronoco on the 15th. Hope to see you there. I don't know if I will stay until Junkologie Blog party which is from 3 -5. Also, depending on how long you are going to be in Minneapolis...stop by Hunt and Gather...it is at the corner of Xerxes and 50th (just 6 blocks from my house - I am in Linden Hills). If you get to Hopkins stop at LeAnntiques on Main Street.

Enjoy your reunion, you are going to have so much fun. It is the best when you connect with old friends from high school. A month ago I connected with my best friend from high school and it was like we had never been absent from each other. I have been out of school 40 years now. Treasure each moment.

Kim,

I am going to be in Oronoco bright and early on Friday morning, I suggest getting your Starbucks in Mpls - I don't think you will find any in good ole Oronoco! After such a cool summer - the humidity has arrived right in time for your visit! Hopefully Friday won't be too bad.... I look forward to seeing you!
