bon weekend~

Don't you just love Fridays? Mind you, they aren't as fabulous as Saturdays, but it is like they are a little teaser to what is coming... Today is especially nice as the boys are home from school which means I have their company for the day.

We don't have any big plans for the weekend, other than one of my favorite flea markets is on this Sunday, and I am going to attempt to sneak in the Ballard Market on my way home (which is completely NOT on my way home - not even slightly...).

I also hope to spend some time in Mabel, as she is coming along nicely and I have a few more things I want to finish up in her. And speaking of Mabel, this little treasure arrived in the mail yesterday~

Thanks to Jules at the Diversion Project, (she saw it and remembered how much this girl loves an good airstream) I discovered Leah Giberson - an incredible artist to gives life to her amazing mid-century paintings. *love* them! They make me want to run out and buy a tiny 1950s bungalow (no, it is probably not a bungalow, but I don't know what one calls these darling little homes). Couldn't you just move right in???

I highly suggest you visit her etsy shop as there are a number of really fabulous pieces - the colors are so vibrant, and they have such a sense of realism!

Wishing you a deliciously marvelous weekend, whatever you happen to be up to~

bisous mes amies,
xx

Mimi,

Thank you so very much for the lovely words about my work. So glad to hear you like your print as well.

As for Teresa's comment where she wondered whether the houses are REAL ... all my work starts with a photograph of a real place and then I paint directly upon the photographic image. By the time I am done it's almost entirely covered with paint. Here's an example of one of the photographs I used: http://www.flickr.com/photos/86125374@N00/3566333449/

And of course, I always receive permission first and then credit the photographer if I use someone else's image.

Thanks again!
Leah

What cute little shrubs curving in front of the house. I love Ballard Market. Used to live on Magnolia just across the bridge. Have fun, sweetie.

Oh, I just love this 50's air about the place here, Mimi! What cool pics.

That last one reminds me of the little 70's caravan we inherited after the last photo shoot here before Halloween. It just didn't want to leave... :-)

And yes, I have plans for it!

'Twas a pleasure to see you at Sand Point on Sunday, Miss Kimberly! I also saw Michelle Renee on Sunday, and found out that she didn't even know your photos of her romantic cuffs had been published in Porch mag!

That last little trailer is like the one my grandparents had.... painted baby blue & cream to match my grandpa's 1956 Ford truck. sigh.
