my saturday find~

{you can't see it in these photos but the bed is a lovely pale shade of blue}

As many of you know, I love outdoor spaces.  I have always wanted a daybed outside, and have posted photos of fabulous outdoor rooms with wonderful spots to take an afternoon nap, read a book, or just watch the clouds roll by.

Today my husband sent me out for a couple of hours to have some time to myself.  He knew he was going out of town tonight, leaving me with #s 3 & 4, and thought that it might be a good idea for me to "charge up" so to speak.  He is a wise, wise man~

I had seen this bed a while back and loved it.  It was incredibly reasonable, but at the time, I just didn't know where I would put it.  I knew I had no space inside the house, so I decided against it. Today however, with the gorgeous weather, and my dreams of a little corner of the property that I can sneak away to, I headed back to the place where I had seen it in hopes of it still being available.  Thankfully, it was!  I scooped it up, and then headed to the nearest thrift shop in search of a mattress and some old sheets.  As my handsome husband was heading off for his weekend away, I was busy cutting 2x4s to support my mattress and assembling my masterpiece.  I love it!!!  #3 has already tested it (as have I...) and we have declared that it is absolutely perfect!  Isn't it simply darling?  It sits next to the chicken coop under my beautiful rose covered pergola, shaded but allowing for a gorgeous breeze to pass through.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friends - I am headed out to my new daybed with my favorite magazines as well as my two favorite books - Paris, made by hand, and My French Life.

I love it! I absolutely love it! I have always yearned for one of those old-fashioned iron beds. And I'm getting ready to have a small screened-in porch area added to the end of my new deck area. I've been pondering (and told my carpenter) that I had childhood memories of staying with relatives in a cabin on a bed like this on a front-facing screened-in porch. I think now my plan has solidified! Thanks!

Good for you!! What a find. I know you'll enjoy it! My dear friend bought a beautiful old French iron daybed a number of years ago at Roundtop. It is still sitting by the side of her house un-touched because her husband hated it so. He didn't get the idea of an outdoor bed. You are fortunate you wonderful hubby gets the big picture! I too I going to be at home this week husbandless with only one child!!

What a heavenly nest. Thanks for sharing it. I have an old double bed like just like it in my guest room at the Ranchburger and love to read there when we don't have guests.

I adore daybeds and chaise longues. That looks lovely and meltworthy, more pictures please.

By the way, how cool are you to be able to make artistic aprons and chop some 2X4s?
