Nester at heart

I read this post the other day, written by the ever-fabulous Lissa of Humble Pie.  It so clearly described me and my endless desire to nest.  I love my home, but I seem to be happiest surrounded by my boys busying myself with tidying, organizing, decorating, and shopping for things that I can use to make our home even more divine.

Lately, I have been having a love affair with Scandinavian design.  I love the multitudes of whites and grays, the furniture/tables/decor that seems to be aged and chippy, most likely filled with history and fascinating stories, and the calming, peaceful feel of the spaces that have been created. I often find myself looking at our spaces and trying to figure out what I need in order to bring that feel to our home.

Speaking of aged decor, soon I will be doing a post on re-using things rather than buying new, and the value, both esthetically and environmentally of doing so.  Have you seen some of the fabulous things people have done with vintage items lately?

I can relate to this post in a big way because I too am a nester. As much as I love to travel, I am also a homebody who loves to create a welcoming environment. I love your blog and appreciate the light colors you often highlight. Right now I would say my interior style is eclectic craftsman (rich colors & textures, dk wood,, slate and quirky touches). I would love to lighten things up, but that would mean a complete overhaul...for now I happily live vicariously through your blog! :)

Gorgeous photos, and I also love the idea of re-using items, instead of buying new, brings so much personality to your home! I love Lissa's blog too! :)
