rainy saturday night dinner

Tonight my handsome husband is returning from Singapore and Japan after being away for the week. I am sure I don't need to tell you how much I am looking forward to him walking through the front door.

Even though today was cool and rainy, I stopped at the Saturday market while out doing errands to pick up some local produce. It seemed like a great day to make some soup with my favorite sausage and to use some of the carrots from our garden. I also picked up a rustic loaf of sourdough to go along with it. The soup has been simmering on the stove all afternoon and the smell has wafted its way throughout the house. It really makes everything inside so cozy and comfortable as the rain comes down outside the window.

Have a wonderful Saturday evening my friends, however you might be spending it~

I love fall as the cooking involves lots of simmering and hearty cooking. Yesterday I made an absolutely amazing risotto (Thank you Contessa) for the holidays and I am keeping up with your tradition (thank you Kimmy) of cookies in the cookies jar. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and your hubby!

Ahh your soup looks so good! I love fall cooking and have been doing so all week. There were so many things I craved while I was away and honest to goodness home cooking was one of them! Hope your #1 man made it home safe and sound and that you are having a wonderful Sunday together. Thought of you last night as I was at a birthday party and were listening to Nickelback!

That's exactly what I did last Saturday when we had a rainy, dreary day. Everyone seems to appreciate it. Hope your honey is home soon :)

I'm not sure if you accept blog awards, but I did nominate you for the Honest Scrap award. If interested, all the details are on my blog: http://vtcottageliving.blogspot.com

Hope you'll share!
