What I just discovered that I had!

I have been busy working on endless projects lately.  I have also been enjoying going to the flea markets with renewed enthusiasm since the Farm Chicks show.  So a couple of weeks ago I bought a little bag of something that I thought might come in handy at some point.  However, since then it has remained in the bag in my breakfast nook with the endless other supplies that I have picked up over the years.

Well, today after finally finishing my swags (I think I have mentioned that while I am a great starter, finishing is not my strong point...) I thought I would have a look what was in the bag, and see if it was anything I could use on my next project.  Lo and behold, I found what I considered quite a treasure!  I know that there are a few of you that will appreciate this little discovery as much as I do!

I know that there is a name for this - I think it is called tatting.  Does that sound right to you?
Now I just have to figure out how to best use it!

Beautiful work you picked up, what a nice find. My sis tats... it's amazing to watch. Me? I'd go blind if I attempted such a tiny art.

I'm sure you'll find "the sweet spot".

Lovely!! I love discovering things that I already purchased and forgot about!!
You could embellish some sweet cami's or hankies with it quite easily...or pillow covers...or a nightie... or....
:)

Jewelry... starch it stiff or maybe glue...don't know but intersperse some seed pearls, whatever floats you boat but if you layer the strands it could be fun!!!

It's beautiful. My grandma tats:)

Very pretty! My 3 sisters know how to tat...Unfortunately, I never picked up any tatting skills. They used to tat little Christmas ornaments shaped like snowflakes and sew a ribbon on the top of their creations. Some of your tatting trim pieces would look beautiful on throw pillows or pillowcases.

Oh but you found some lovely pieces, Mimi. I'm going to look in my steamer trunk (clothing but at bottom fabric, etc.)

I adore this, ribbons, passementerie, embroidery. All sorts of ornamentation. Not always on my clothing except for small amts. But I love it on others. Now that you've told us about it, you're on the spot:) I have many pix of this type of detail on dresses, home accessories, etc.

When I can restart posts on one of the blogs, I think I'll start off with that as the idea. So thank you ever so much for the push. The photographs are marvellous in their detail, as well.

Have a great evening...

When I was little I'd go to the little shop called And Old Lace where my Mom worked part time and organize all the little tatted doilies. That shop really influenced me and your post brought back such memories - thank you and miss you!
