Color therapy

I have decided I need some color therapy.  Please don't get me wrong - I love my neutral color palate, I really do.  But sometimes I look at colorful interiors and wonder what it takes for someone to commit to using such vibrant hues.

I hate to use the word "chicken" but I guess... when referring to one's self...  because really, I do really really like color.  really.

I tend to think neutral colors are the way to go, but I really, really like the light blue. It adds a bit of color, but still gives a room a fresh look. I love those photos!

Such pretty photos. I tend towards neutrals as a base (large furniture and walls) and then switch out my accessories, art, and throw pillows seasonally-- reds and darks for winter and light blues and coral for summer. Keeps it fresh and me happy!

I love this blue! I instantly felt better! Wow! So unexpected!

I don't know if it's bravery that makes some people use bright colors. I think sometimes it's just what you're used to or sometimes it's what makes you feel at home.

I love your neutral palette! I think it's beautiful and elegant! Why change? This is coming from someone who loves bright colors too! You'll change it, when it's time. No problem here!

I have white furniture, but also some dark furniture. Now I wish I had kept it more neutral and pastel. We all want what we don't have...isn't that the result of loving design? You can see my furniture on my Art by Beatriz blog...if you want to see what I'm talking about.

You have excellent taste! I absolutely admire it!

Have a lovely day!

Aren't they pretty? I too use neutrals. Mostly white!!! A splash of color adds a whole new dimension to a room. I must remind myself to bring in more color.

Gorgeous photos...I love the blues and the turquoises...and maybe one day when my house grows up she will know what she wants to be, but for now she is a mix...a mixed up mix!! :)

Color can be a such a boost to the senses whether you're looking for calm or calamity. Thanks for a shot of both today.

I too tend to lean towards neutrals but after a trip to New Mexico I've been inspired to add a bit more color.

oh, wow. i really love the stairs and door in that second photo.

sometimes just a strong pop somewhere amongst all the neutrals is all it takes! there's always primer and white paint if you absolutely can't live with it. :)

love, love, love these pics!

I have been considering trading my butter yellow walls for a light robins egg blue for a couple weeks and this post cinched it for me :)

Thanks!!

Speaking from experience, neutral is best. I love color, but I love too many colors. So, I don't limit myself anymore. I live in a neutral world and I can use any color I want, whenever the mood strikes and it looks glorious. I've decided that I don't like commitment. LOL.
These photos are wonderful though.

most of them have elements of neutral in them so dont be shy, just add a bit of colour. At least when you get bored you are only changing pillows, prints etc...not the whole space.
Have a great day.

so beautifuuuul pictures!!! I bumped into your blog because I love to read about color psychology.
Scientist say that red makes men feel more amorous towards women!

But I have not seen color applied so nicely on home interior. Keep it up!

I think a lot of people are colour phobic..they aren't able to commit because they feel once they have added that colour they are "stuck" with it. The reality is, you won't know until you try it. If you don't like it? Paint over it. I have one dining room wall in a deep red that I love and have had it that colour for almost 6 years. Every now and then I think of changing it (the other walls are a dijon yellow) and yet it's still there...

I've been dying to paint one of my interior doors in this color...just one. Thinking my laundry room. Might inspire me to actually get some laundry done. :)
