Faking it~

So, I think that the "fake it to make it" mantra is from AA, which is not where I want to go with this post...  Honestly...  However, it is a pretty good mantra, don't you think?  I mean, there are days (sometimes more than I care to acknowledge...) where I just don't feel like that spunky, chipper, happy, positive, inspirational diva that I want to be.  So, on those days, what I have been trying to do is to simply pretend that I am.  Oh, don't get me wrong, there are days when I am so NOT chipper, there is nothing happy about me, and the only thing I am positive about is how cranky I am.  But on those days, I find that often, if I pretend to be be the things I want to be, my spirits are lifted, and by the end of the day, I just might be a little more positive and happy.

On that note, spring, and with it the sunshine and warmth that I so look forward to every year, seems to be avoiding the Seattle area.  We do get the odd sunny day, but overall, it is pretty gray and cloudy, not to mention cold.  So today, being a bit "over" the crappy weather, I decided to go outside and shoot a couple of my favorite things.  And if I look at these photos, and squeeze my eyes nearly shut, I can pretend, for a moment or two, that it is actually spring.  And sunny.  And warm.

Fake it to make it girls - really, what can it hurt?

There's a great country song called "If you're going through hell" The lyrics say:
If you're going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there
*This is my reminder to fake it until I make it...just keep going!
Thanks for your honesty...Hope the rest of your week is full of blessings.

I'm with you on the gray stuff. But aren't Lilies of the Valley just the sweetest little flower?! I have some in my garden too, and you just can't be down when you look at them. And the fragrance.... better than Prozac! ;0)

Even with their foggy haze, these are beautiful, spring blooms. My Lily-of-the-valley are just up and getting ready to show the sweet little umbrella flowers. Day after day of foggy weather-it's o.k. not to be spot-on! You do know how to see the best in a day.

Sitting here in my Oregon home, I have decided not to look out my window at the rain, instead I will look at your soft, lovely pictures and imagine the sun kissed warmth of a spring day. I'm sure if enough of us do this we can 'fake it till we make it...'

We all have the reserve power deep inside we just forget to use it at times.
It has been raining more than usual here and chilly, but I don't mind it. I think sometimes when having the near experience my outlook is so more of going with the flow and embracing even the cloudy days. There is so much around us we just have to sometimes stop, look, listen, and smell. In the rain today I too took photos of our lily-of-the- valley and was going to post for tomorrow. LOL...

I say we are never too old to play pretend and your photos looked like it was a very sunny and happy day! Sending you hugs and wishes for a golden day! xoxo

You've taken pictures of two of my favorite flowers! Your photos are beautiful! I wish I could send you some sunshine and warmth from here - it seems like spring has eluded us and we went straight to summer with four more hot and sticky months to come. Send us some of your gray skies...:)

I love those little white delicate beauties, what are those called...? Sometimes I have to fake it too, although at home they get ME, the good, bad and ugly, cause by the time I get home from work, I just can't fake it anymore...If I could, I would package a bit of our sun up and send it to you next day air! Such beautiful photos. I love the soft lighting. Do you use a 55mm lens? Our Lillies of the Valley are close to blooming here too, on an opposite coast. I too feel drained by our endless gray days, especially after such a long winter. Someone once told me to always remember, the sun is still shining above the clouds.
Beautiful post!

I love this post! You wrote exactly what everyone in this house is feeling - but, according to the weather man, we're in for some sun this weekend! Fingers crossed! Tightly!! Let's hope this weekend puts all of this Seattle rain behind us for a while...

Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos!

I have a tendency to wallow in my crankiness so this isn't a bad idea, although it remains to be seen whether I can manage it :P

Lovely photos btw! Those little white bell flowers (so technical) are just so adorable!
