Thursday in the sunshine on the farm~

Yesterday was absolutely glorious here on the farm and looking out the window this morning, it looks to be another beautiful day out there.  As always our visit with Dad is going wonderfully, and I am already wishing time would slow down, as I know Monday will come and I will have to do the dreaded drive to the airport...

We spent much of yesterday outside - the men folk working on the playhouse, and me with my trusty Francis, grabbing shots of this and that.  As I didn't get any photos of the completed (yet unpainted) playhouse yet due to having to run off to my French class last night, I thought I would share with you a few shots of other pretty/funny/lovely things that I found.

Clearly the wisteria is in full bloom right now!  I love wisteria~  It has this incredible fragrance and it is so pretty when it fills the roofline of the barn.  When we first moved here six years ago, it was an absolutely huge vine.  Huge, beautiful, and incredibly damaging.  I had to cut most of it back due to the fact that it had wound its way under the roof and was threatening to lift it off! I am so happy that it has come back so well this year, and I am very careful about keeping it in line and taking off any tendrils that have a mind of their own...

The baby chicks spent much of yesterday outdoors in the sunshine for the first time.  They had such fun searching for bugs and running around after each other.  As you can see, this year I brought home more "pretty" hens than I did production hens...   In hindsight I should have probably brought home a bit more of an even mix, as we do love our eggs.  That being said, there is always next year and the girls are so productive this year, I am sure we will be fine. The red little girl is a bantam cochin frizzle - she is the third frizzle that I have had and one of my very favorite looking "pretty" hens.  Frizzles are hilarious - especially when they run.  They look like they just came out of the dryer and get fluffier as they get older.  One of my other favorites is the grey baby.  She is a giant blue cochin and unlike Rose (the frizzle) Bluebelle will get huge.  They are lovely and fluffy and although they aren't great layers, part of the reason I have chickens is that I really enjoy seeing the on the property on days like yesterday. Production is nice, but so are funny/pretty/silly chickens.

Enjoy your Friday my friends~

I love the wisteria, we have it growing over our pergola in the back yard and love the flowers and shade it provides!

Your chicks are great. I bet they loved running around in the sunshine!

Have a great weekend,
