Baby chicks!

One of our favorite spring rituals is picking out a couple more baby chicks to add to Chez Poulet.  This morning one of our local feed stores had two chicks that I had been looking to get - a Blue Cochin and a Rhode Island Red.  We already have one Red and I really like her.  She is smaller and a great layer.  We have two cochins - a buff and a black.  As I am partial to blue birds (our rooster is a blue splash bantam cochin and my sweet frizzle is a blue splash as well) I was quite excited to see that they had blue chicks in!
Aren't they darling?

I love the baby chicks!
We had chickens when I was a girl, they were a lot of fun. My sister and I would sometimes try to dress them doll clothes. :)

They are now Rose and Blue Belle~ Most of our hens are named after flowers and desserts - two of my favorite things!

You taught me something new today, I had no idea that chickens naturally come in blue. They are so cute!
